Tokyo:
Arrive in 'the Land of the Rising Suns' vibrant capital and transfer by airport limousine bus to your hotel. Explore this fascinating city's sites, including Asukusa Kannon and the Imperial Palace, and indulge in some retail therapy in the shopping Mecca of Ginza. Take in views of the bustling capital from the heights of Tokyo Tower, and have free time to discover your own favourite part of an amazing metropolis with something for everyone.

Hakone:
Acclaimed for its outdoor activities and relaxing hot springs, Hakone is a picturesque small town near the base of Mount Fuji . There are lots of narrow laneways and small shop fronts for you to explore here. Take a cruise on Lake Ashi -no and then a cable car ride and, should the conditions be right, you will experience stunning views of majestic Mount Fuji.

Nagoya & Matsumoto:
Nagoya is the fourth largest city in Japan and is home to the impressive Noritake Museum . Spend the day exploring Nagoya's highlights before you head to Matsumoto via ancient postal towns in the Kiso Valley. On arrival in Matsumoto visit Matsumoto Jo – a World Heritage-listed castle dating back to the 1500s.

Takayama & Nara:
Drive through the Japanese Alps to Takayama, a city whose location led to isolation from the rest of Japan and the preservation of ancient culture, as witnessed in the geisha districts and 16th century architecture. Explore the Old Town, then enjoy some free time to visit the morning market. You will continue on to Nara, capital of Japan from 710 to 784, and home to some of the country's most beautiful temples.

Hiroshima:
Take the shinkansen – also known as the 'Bullet Train' and capable of travel at up to 300 kilometres per hour! – to Hiroshima and explore Miyajima Shrine Island, the inland sea of Japan and home to the famous floating Torii, built in the mid-16th century. A visit to Hiroshima's Peace Park and Museum is a humbling experience, and the city today is a lovely place to wander, explore and absorb a Japan firmly focused on a peaceful future.

Kyoto:
Kyoto One of Japan's most beautiful cities, Kyoto was the country's capital from the 6th century and was so for more then a millenium. As such, today it is home to nostalgic teahouses, and more than one thousand shrines and temples. Take in the city’s gardens, Kiyomizudera Temple and the Silver Pavilion, amongst other highlights. You will have free time to wander through the geisha quarter or indulge in the fantastic shopping, bathhouses and temples. Your journey ends on day 14 with a train transfer to the airport.
