East Africa:
Kenya Wildlife & Water (IMT)
– 13 days from $1,455 USD

The dual attractions of abundant wildlife and glorious coastline ensure plenty of things to do. At Lake Nakuru we see vast numbers of buffalo as well as thousands of flamingos and pelicans, and have a chance of glimpsing the rare black rhino. Lake Naivasha is renowned for its birdlife and hippos. The rolling plains of the Masai Mara are reckoned to offer some of the best game viewing in the world. As well as abundant wildlife Kenya has a cultural side too and we take bush walks with the local Maasai tribe and learn some of their bushcraft and culture.

Itinerary

Day: Description:
1 NAIROBI
Arrive and transfer to hotel.
2 LAKE NAKURU
Drive to Lake Nakuru, one of the Great Rift Valley Lakes. Lake Nakuru is renowned for its vast population of flamingos and also gives us our best chance to see the rare black rhino.
3 LAKE NAKURU - LAKE NAIVASHA
Today we visit another of the great Rift Valley Lakes, Lake Naivasha. We visit Elsamere, Joy Adamson’s home, on the shore of the lake. After a splendid afternoon tea we take a boat ride to see the hippos and abundant birdlife of the lake.
4-7 MASAI MARA
After breakfast we journey to the Maasai Mara where, for the next 4 days, our attention will be focused on the diverse and plentiful wildlife that has made the Maasai Mara one of the world's greatest reserves. In between game drives, camp staff will organise activities for the children such as learning to recognise animal tracks and making bows and arrows. We also visit a nearby Masai Manyatta (homestead) for an insight into the Maasai lifestyle.
8 MASAI MARA - NAIROBI
If weather conditions allow, we make an early morning game drive before heading back to Nairobi. This afternoon we visit an animal orphanage.
9 NAIROBI - MOMBASA
Morning flight to the Indian Ocean coast. On arrival at Mombasa airport, transfer to our accommodation right beside the ocean.
10-12 INDIAN OCEAN
Three days to enjoy the Indian Ocean. Sailing, snorkelling, wind-surfing and a wide range of children’s activities are all included. The more adventurous can also choose to try their hand at game fishing. If you prefer more land based activities there are excellent nature trails and wildlife parks nearby.
13 MOMBASA - NAIROBI
Transfer to Mombasa airport for a flight to Nairobi to connect with your international flight home. Tour ends on arrival at Nairobi airport.
