"I take my grandkids where they want to go when they are 16 years old. Wes, the ninth and my last one, wanted Russia. He studied it in World History and was intrigued with Lenin and all things Russian. So I asked my Travel Agent’s advice and she suggested the Russian Highlights Adventure– because the tour features small groups and because of the positive feedback from past travellers.
Our tour group, as promised, was small. We were nine: a couple from New Zealand, who were taking their 5th Adventure
Tour, 4 Australians, one of whom said she wouldn't be home till Christmas, a Canadian who was taking a 10 week vacation, and us – the oldest, at 76: and the youngest, at 16. Our trip mates were all experienced travelers. So we got pride of ownership for picking the same adventure tour they did.
Russia is fascinating country: From cosmopolitan Moscow, to the historical towns in the Golden Ring, to cultural St. Petersburg. We got some insight on what Russians do, their history, and how they live. Our tour was very successful. The guide was knowledgeable and he gave us individual attention: Like helping us change money; and how to find pharmacies and supermarkets. He even helped us manage our free time. For example, he brought us to the theatre box office so we could buy tickets and see the Nutcracker Ballet in Moscow!"
