Description: |
| 1-2 |
Rome
The frenetic streets, ancient sights and spacious piazzas of central Rome are best explored on foot. The magical sights are limitless but make sure you take time out to do as the Romans do and sip an espresso at one of the cafes in Piazza Navona. |
| 3-4 |
Florence
We have the option to spend the morning admiring the Sistine Chapel and the majestic Vatican City before bidding 'arrivederci' to Rome. In Florence discover more timeless wonders including the 13th century Duomo and its fiery depiction of 'The Last Judgement'. There is ample free time to admire Michelangelo's David or hunt for a bargain in the market. |
| 5-7 |
Lucca
With its narrow streets, beautiful churches and ancient ramparts, the medieval town of Lucca radiates charm. We set off to explore the surrounding countryside by bike, perhaps stopping along the way to enjoy a Tuscan picnic. A day trip to Pisa brings us to the great tower itself. |
| 8-9 |
Cinque Terre
The lovely seaside town of Levanto is our gateway to Cinque Terre. The views are breathtaking as we walk the coastal path that connects the five villages. There's time to kick back in one of the many streetside cafes, stroll the promenade with a gelato in hand and of course take a dip in the Mediterranean. |
| 10-11 |
Piedmont
Mouth-watering culinary delights await us in Piedmont, where food comes first. The region of Piedmont also has some of the finest and most sought after wines in Europe. You may like to sample a few on a visit to a local winery. Be sure to try a dish flavoured with the region's renowned white truffle. |
| 12-13 |
Italian Lakes
We start the day in stylish Milan before heading to the tranquillity of Lake Como. Set against a backdrop of snowy mountain peaks, this one of the loveliest areas of Italy and a great place to hike. In addition, the village of Bellagio, considered one of the most beautiful in all Italy, is only a short ferry ride away. |
| 14-15 |
Venice
Possibly the most photogenic city in Italy, Venice is the ideal place to end our journey. Our orientation walk includes the Grand Canal, the Rialto Bridge, the Basilica di San Marco and the evocative Bridge of Sighs. There is also ample time to explore this magical city on your own. |
